Holywell man jailed for sex with underage girl

A MAN who took an under-age girl to a forest and had intercourse with her broke down and cried when he was jailed for two years and eight months at Mold Crown Court.

Jamie Gudger, 27, admitted a charge of sexual activity with a child, a 14-year-old.

Gudger of New Road, Gwespyr, will have to register as a sex offender and an order was made ordering him not to have any contact with the victim.

Judge Niclas Parry told him the aggravating features were the substantial disparity in age and the fact he was sexually experienced and a father.

“You took advantage of a child who had an obvious crush on you,” the judge told him.

He had arranged to meet her in a forest and had unprotected sexual intercourse with her, an indication of his total lack of regard for her welfare.

“Your conduct towards her was not only shameful, but demeaning, as if you regarded her as nothing other than a sexual object,” Judge Parry told him.

He took into account that Gudger did not have any previous convictions for sexual offences, he had pleaded guilty and there was no suggestion of any threat or violence.

Prosecuting barrister Maria Massellis said police were contacted by the girl’s mother who had seen some disturbing text messages on her daughter’s telephone. The defendant had previous convictions for 22 offences but nothing of a sexual nature.

Defending barrister Jonathan Duffy said his client accepted he became involved in a short-lived but entirely consensual sexual relationship with a girl aged 14. He entirely accepted the serious view any court would take.
