Hundreds of runners compete in Flintshire 10k

HUNDREDS of runners pounded the streets around Mold as the annual Flintshire 10k got underway.

Almost 500 people took part in the main event, with more than 150 joining in the shorter 3k event.

The race was in aid of Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham and organisers are hoping to smash the £16,000 raised last year.

The winner of the 10k was Lee Jones of Deeside Amateur Athletics Club who completed the challenge in 33 minutes and six seconds.

The fastest female runner was Sarah Kearney who finished after 37 minutes and 39 seconds.

A spokesman for the hospice said: “We would like to thank all the volunteers, event organisers and the residents of Mold for making the event so successful.”
