CHESTER-BASED insurer John Goodwin is celebrating after being presented with the North West President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.
John, non-executive director and chairman of BAI Claims Services Ltd, picked up the accolade at the North West Centenary Awards, held to mark the Chartered Insurance Institute’s centenary anniversary of being granted a Royal Charter.
The award recognises an individual in the North West who has carved out a career of significant professional merit and devoted time and effort to shaping their local insurance institute and the sector as a whole.
John was presented with the award for his breadth of experience in the sector.
Having worked in insurance for more than 50 years, he has held a number of positions in claims and broking and enjoyed great success at Omni Whittington and BAI.
Additionally, he is a member and regular speaker for the British Insurance Law Association and leading figure in tracing historical policies.
Within the CII, John has twice held the role of president of the Insurance Institute of Chester and North Wales and currently stands as charities representative.
Brian Gelling, President of the Insurance Institute of Chester and North Wales, said: “John ultimately stood out for embodying the values of the CII and what the awards stand for.
“It’s testament to his impressive track record – both professionally and through his voluntary contributions with the CII – that he was selected as our very deserving winner.”
The CII has more than 60 local institutes across the UK that provide career guidance, mentoring and local news to members.
