Catherine Gowing case: More human remains confirmed as those of missing Mold vet

A police tent is set up off Manor Road, Sealand, as part of the search for the body of Catherine Gowing.

POLICE have confirmed more human remains found last week are those of missing vet Catherine Gowing.

The force said today (Wednesday) a post-mortem examination carried out on remains found on the banks of the River Dee in Higher Ferry on Friday have been ‘positively identified’ as the 37-year-old’s.

The discovery by an off-duty Cheshire police officer came two days after body parts were found on land off Manor Road in Sealand.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Mark Pierce said: “The results have been passed to Catherine’s family. As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for them.

They continue to be supported by specialist officers and are being kept fully updated with the progress of the investigation.”

Former Deeside High School pupil Clive Sharp, 46, of Bethesda, Gwynedd, is currently in custody charged with murder.

DCI Pierce repeated his appeal for any information regarding any sightings of Catherine’s Irish-registered Renault Clio 00D 99970 and Sharp’s black Volvo S40 AG58 JHE since Friday October 12, particularly in the areas where the remains were discovered.

He added: “The search for further remains and any evidence to assist this investigation continues, and I would again ask the community if you have seen any suspicious activity or person in Manor Road, Sealand, or on the banks of the River Dee, or have any information which may assist our investigation, to contact police on 101.”

Catherine was last seen alive at about 8.40pm on October 12 leaving Asda Queensferry. She had lived at Cae Isa, New Brighton, for about 18 months and worked at Evans Veterinary Practice in Mold.
