Flintshire winners in Your Champions awards recognised for their achievements

THE Flintshire winners in the Your Champions awards were recognised for their achievements at the glittering ceremony.

They included Flintshire’s Team of the Year North Clwyd Animal Rescue at Trelogan, which helps hundreds of abandoned and unwanted pets in need every year.

Volunteer of the Year was Margaret Murray of Saltney, who is a volunteer mentor at the Deeside based Domestic Abuse Unit.

Young Champion of the Year was Emmy Taylor from Flint. She was just two years old when she survived an horrific caravan fire which killed her grandad and uncle and left her with 65% burns. The brave schoolgirl has undergone countless operations and shown tremendous courage.

Champion of the Year went to Alan Forrester, who has spent 45 years volunteering for Flint RNLI.

Olympian Jade Jones, who took gold in the -57kg tae kwon-do at the London Games 2012 was named Flintshire’s Sporting Champion of the Year. The 19-year-old of Flint, was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to prior commitments.
