Christmas light switch-on event to be held in Flintshire towns

FLINTSHIRE will be all a glow in the weeks leading up to Christmas as towns across the county prepare to switch-on their festive lights.

On Tuesday Daniel Owen Square in Mold will host its grand switch-on event.

There will be a funfair from 3.45pm to 8pm and festive singing from local schoolchildren. Father Christmas will arrive at 5.50pm and the lights will be switched on at 6pm.

Olympian Jade Jones will light up Flint next Thursday, November 29, when she will officially switch-on the town’s lights on the balcony of the town hall at 6pm.

There will be stalls and a small fun fair in Church Street and a fireworks display at 5.45pm.

A parade will take place in Buckley at about 6pm on Thursday, November 29, before the main switch-on at around 6.30pm.

There will be children’s fairground rides and festive stalls in Brunswick Road and a visit from Santa.

In Holywell the switch-on will take place next Friday, November 30, with events taking place in the town centre from noon until 7pm.

There will be fairground rides from 3pm and the lights will be switched on outside the town hall at 5pm.

Father Christmas will arrive on his float at 5.05pm.

At 5.15pm there will be a performance from a rock choir followed by Holywell Band playing carols at 6pm and fireworks at 6.30pm.

Real reindeer will visit Connah’s Quay along with Father Christmas on Friday, November 30, for the Christmas light switch on.

The event at Wepre Drive runs from 2-6pm and there will be a funfair and festive market. The main switch-on is at 5.30pm.

The Argoed Community Carol Concert and light switch-on will be held on December 6 at the community centre in Mercia Square, Mynydd Isa from 4.30-6pm.

The Christmas float organised by Flint and Holywell Rotary Club will also be touring the county from Thursday, November 29-December 23.
