Gwernymynydd Primary children wow with nativity

PROUD parents and grandparents crammed into a village school to watch children perform a series of nativity plays.

Pupils of Gwernymynydd Primary School’s Infant classes dressed in costume and performed a traditional nativity play.

And junior pupils put on a play called Table Manners which told the story of three animals with attitude that fight for the right to stand by the side of Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus in the stable at Bethlehem.

Headteacher Louise Williams said pupils really enjoyed performing the plays despite the nerves.

She said: “Christmas is a special time and our children really enjoyed performing their plays. I know, from talking to parents, how much they enjoyed coming into school and seeing their children on stage.

“The infants really brought the house down with a lovely, and very traditional, nativity play while we wanted to give the junior children the chance to try something a little more challenging.

“They all seemed to enjoy being on stage and we had some really good performances. Having the chance to perform to a hall packed with parents and other family members is great for their confidence.”
