Deeside frozen food company Iceland raises cash for cancer charity

A FROZEN food firm has donated more than £100,000 to a cancer charity.

Deeside-based Iceland presented a cheque for £105,906 to Prostate Cancer UK after a record-breaking golf day at Carden Park Hotel in Chester.

The latest donation brings the total Iceland has given to the charity over the past five years to more than £525,000.

Malcolm Walker, Iceland’s chairman and chief executive, said: “Everyone at Iceland would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved with the event who helped us to raise this record sum.

Owen Sharp, chief executive of Prostate Cancer UK, added: “Each year in the UK, 40,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, and one man dies every hour from the disease.

“The money raised by Iceland will help us to reach more of these men to make sure they get the support they need.”
