Delfryn House Psychiatric Hospital in Mold to hold open day

DELFRYN House psychiatric hospital in Argoed Hall Lane, Mold, is holding an open day for the public to mark the opening of its new women’s ward.

The event on Monday, August 23, from 10am- 5pm, will be a chance to see around the new building and learn a bit more about the services the hospital provides, meet the staff and find out more about the day to day running of the hospital.

The new wing, which will cater for 24 patients, cost £3m.

Hospital manger Paul Hughes said: “It’s been in the planning for three years and has been under construction for the past eight months.

“The building is looking really good and we’ll start getting our new patients in from early September.”

The hospital currently cares for 28 male patients and has been treating mental health patients since 2005.

It focuses specifically on those diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, bipolar affective disorder and depression and does not admit psychopaths, sex offenders, paedophiles, those without UK residential status, people with a severe forensic history, those requiring secure facilities or anyone diagnosed with substance misuse.
