More success for Britain

Great Britain ended the boccia test event with more medal success at the Olympic Park.

Jess Hunter and Jacob Thomas won gold in the mixed pairs BC3 competition, while Daniel Bentley, Nigel Murray and David Smith took bronze in the mixed team BC1-2 at the Basketball Arena.

Their success followed on from Sunday's gold medal-winning performances by BC1-player Smith and BC2-player Murray in the individual events at the London Boccia Invitational 2012.

"It has been a fantastic achievement by the team," said GB Boccia performance director Matt Hammond.

"If you had said to me beforehand we would get three golds that would have been fantastic, so to achieve that is great.

"I would say our performance at this event has definitely surpassed expectations.

"Our last BC3 medals were in 1996, so it gives you some kind of idea how well that group has moved on.

"There are still a couple of things we want to work on from the point of view of the team, but I think we nailed every event here.

"Now we just need to try and lift it up a bit, which is going to be the challenge."
