O'Sullivan extends lead over Carter

Ronnie O'Sullivan today moved seven frames clear of Ali Carter and set up the possibility of a finish with a session to spare in the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship final.

Leading 10-7 overnight, O'Sullivan began with a break of 101 and then punished a flurry of Carter mistakes as he extended his advantage to 14-7.

With 18 frames the target for victory, and four still to play following the afternoon mid-session interval, O'Sullivan, who dropped heavy retirement hints on Saturday, was tearing towards the line.

Nine frames are scheduled for this evening, with Carter looking to survive until that session at least.
