A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a woman and child.
North Wales Police were called to an address in Porthmadog, Gwynedd, at 9.20pm on Friday and the pair were declared dead at the scene.
A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene in Glanmorfa Terrace, police said.
A spokesman for the force said officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Next of kin have been informed and family members are being offered support by specialist officers.
Officers remain at the scene, and the deaths are being treated as a major incident, police said.
The spokesman said: "Shortly after 9.20pm on Friday March 30, North Wales Police were called to an address in Glanmorfa Terrace, Porthmadog, where they discovered an adult female and child who were subsequently declared deceased at the scene.
"A male in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
"Police are not looking for anybody else in connection with this inquiry."
Police are asking anyone to contact them if they were near Glanmorfa Terrace on Friday evening or may have any information about the incident.
