Flint Castle keeper of the keys Vicky Perfect nominated for Your Champions Award

FLINT Castle’s biggest fan has been nominated for a Your Champions Award.

Vicky Perfect, keeper of the keys of Flint Castle, has been watching over the fortunes of the historic building for the past 30 years, arriving at the castle every morning to unlock it and every evening to close it again, while also giving tours to visitors, picking up rubbish and keeping the place tidy.

Vicky has been nominated by Flint mayor Dave Cox, who said that ‘without a doubt’ she is worthy of an award.

“She is dedicated to the castle, the town and the history of the area,” he said.

“She puts in a lot of her own time and effort in looking after the castle. She’s there day in day out whatever the weather, and is always happy to talk to visitors about the castle.

“She is so interested in the castle’s history, that she has spent years researching its background and has gone to great lengths to discover all she can.

“She works hard looking into the history of Flint and is keen for as many people as possible to learn about the heritage of the town. To this end she has written a book compiling all her research on the castle.

“Without a doubt, she is a worthy winner of a Your Champion Award.”
