Your Champions 2012: Ray Woolley from Deeside nominated for volunteer award

A CHARITY champion from Deeside has been hailed ‘an inspiration’.

Ray Woolley, 72, has raised money for Cancer Research for 37 years – completing 77 charity rows in the process.

Ray, of Chapel Street in Connah’s Quay, was nominated as Trinity Mirror/ScottishPower Champion Volunteer of the Year by friend Jeff Mitchell, from Shotton.

“I’ve known him most of my life, for more than 50 years,” said Jeff.

“He’s a hero in my eyes. He’s a very caring and considerate man, he works so hard.

“He’s very worthy of this award. He’s such an asset to the community and he brings light into people’s hearts.

“Ray’s coming up 73 and he’s still so dedicated and so active – he’s an inspiration.”
