Haverfordwest County 4Airbus UK Broughton 0
THE TV cameras appeared to curse Airbus as the club’s first ever live broadcast game quickly turned into a horror movie as Haverfordwest surgically picked apart the Wingmakers on S4C.
They got off to the worst possible start on three minutes when Neil Thomas was played through on goal and fired a shot across Kristian Rogers to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
That woke Airbus up and Danny Desormeaux lofted an attempt over the bar minutes later.
On 13 minutes Gio Feliciello curled a cross into the area for Nick Rushton to stab wide and on 17 minutes Matthew Cook was booked for a challenge on Matty Collins before Ryan Edwards saw a shot saved by Lee Idzi three minutes later.
Possession and territory belonged to Craig Harrison’s side but the final product wasn’t there.
Matty Woodward was booked in the 24th minute for a late challenge before Andy Moran had two chances – a shot into the side netting and a header from a corner well held by Idzi.
Still no goals and Airbus were getting twitchy as Feliciello became the third Airbus player to see yellow before the home side punished the visitors’ wastefulness by doubling their lead on 39 minutes.
A ball floated into the box allowed Jack Christopher to loop a header over Kristian Rogers to make it 2-0.
After the break the Wingmakers continued to dominate the game but County simply batted them away.
On 53 minutes Simon Smith was introduced to turn up the pressure and when Idzi lost the ball from a cross before the on-loan Wrexham striker chipped a shot over.
Just past the hour County killed the game off. Former Swansea and Wrexham midfielder Matty Collins curled a free-kick from outside the area into the bottom corner to make it 3-0.
With 15 minutes remaining livewire Paul McManus replaced Matty Woodward as Harrison rolled the dice to close the gap.
Six minutes from time County added a fourth, another free-kick which was drilled low through the Airbus wall into the back of the net.
Moran came close to a consolation, forcing Idzi into a spectacular double save following a corner. but it wasn’t Airbus’ day.
