Cricket: Ben Roberts takes over as Halkyn skipper

HALKYN Cricket Club have appointed 22-year-old strike bowler Ben Roberts as their new first XI captain.

He will be assisted by vice-captain Duane Williams in leading the North Wales League Division One side.

Negotiations are currently taking place to bring in an overseas player for the forthcoming season, which begins for Halkyn on Saturday, April 21 at Chirk.

Halkyn 2nds will again be led by Ian Mercer in Division Five.

Training net sessions are being held at Holywell Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 4, 18 and April 1 between noon and 1.30pm.

The club’s junior section has entered an under 10s team in the indoor league at Argoed Leisure Centre on Thursday evenings until the end of April.
