Cricket: Pontblyddyn suffer heavy loss on home turf

RELEGATION fears continue to surround Pontblyddyn 2nds after their 111-run loss at home to Llanrwst.

Tim Cummins hit 126no for the visitors as they set 225-4 (Ed Jones 2-73).

Pont never looked likely to mount the mammoth run-chase required. Chris Myles struck 49 and Jack Mason 32 as they made 114ao.

HALKYN put more daylight between themselves and the drop zone with an eight-wicket win over Menai Bridge 2nds.

Bridge made 205-7, with Corey Walters proving the main avenue of attack for Halkyn with 3-37.

Their response was emphatic as Marcello Carrino blasted 103no, carrying his bat through the innings.

Opening partner Matt Williams made 43 and Maelor Thomas got Halkyn over the line with 38 as they triumphed with 207-2.

HAWARDEN PARK’S promotion march continued with an eight-wicket victory at Marchwiel and Wrexham.

A fine bowling performance from Campbell Marr (4-29) plus 2-24 from Ian Martin and 2-36 from Jason Biddulph helped Park restrict Marchwiel to 127-8.

Tom Ducker and Adam Doyle then took it to their hosts, scoring 67 and 49 as Park won with 128-2.
