THE number of games cancelled or abandoned due to rain allowed Hawarden Park to take over at the top of the North Wales League Division One table as they look to bounce straight back into the Premier Division.
Park were able to get their game at Llandudno 2nds on Saturday completed as they earned a 113-run victory.
Tom Ducker was outstanding as he opened with 78 once Park were asked to bat. Eight fours and five sixes punctuated his impressive innings. Jason Biddulph was not to be left out as he posted an unbeaten 65 helping Park to 216-5.
When the teams swapped roles, Ian Martin stepped up to rob Llandudno of any hope of chasing. He seized 5-14 as Llandudno were all out for 103.
Park’s Monday game at home to Gresford was abandoned.
The only other Flintshire team to complete a game over the weekend was Halkyn.
The relegation battlers were put in to bat at Marchwiel and Wrexham and thanks to Corey Walters 29, Simon Penney’s 24 and Marcello Carrino’s 21 they set 119-8.
Marchwiel reeled them in swiftly, George Forgrave leading the charge with 54 as they reached 120-5 (Matthew Williams 3-30).
