Cricket: Hawarden Park promoted as champions

A 13-RUN victory proved lucky for Hawarden Park as they sealed the divisional title and promotion back to the top flight.

It means there will be five Flintshire teams in the Premier Division next season.

Park secured promotion with a win over Menai Bridge 2nds.

A 31 from Michael Parton helped Park set a target of 129ao before they dismissed Bridge for 116, Ian Martin claiming 5-33.

PONTBLYDDYN 2nds remain in trouble at the opposite end of the table as they must ensure they score enough points to keep Marchwiel and Wrexham at bay on Saturday against the champions after suffering a three-wicket loss at home to Pwllheli.

Chris Myles made a stand-out 70no as Pont reached 151-9.

But despite bowling figures of 3-20 from Nathan Davies Pont succumbed, going down to 152-7.

HALKYN are safe but suffered a two-wicket loss to Llandudno 2nds. Corey Waters 27 helped Halkyn to 115ao before Tudno made 119-8 (Matt William 3-25).
