Football: Saltney Town undergo Ironman challenge to raise money for new showers

SALTNEY Town held a fundraising Ironman fitness challenge on Saturday to raise money for a new shower facility.

The FAW is introducing a new rule that all clubs at Welsh National League level must have shower facilities – so Saltney plan to build a temporary facility in order to keep their place in the league this season.

Long term, the club are interested in leasing facilities at Saltney Community Centre before committing to a major building project at the ground.

The ironman challenge, which saw the players perform thousands of press-ups, sit ups and other exercises at Deva Police ABC, have raised £15,000 toward their aims, including a £50 has donation from Mayor of Saltney Richard Lloyd and Saltney councillor Veronica Gay.
