Football: Rhydymwyn and Mold Alex continue to slug it out at the top of Welsh National League

THE title race remains as close as ever in the Welsh National League as top side Rhydymwyn scored a 2-1 win over visiting Coedpoeth.

Chris Guy and Tom Evans got Rhyd back on the winning trail, and just in time as MOLD ALEX beat basement side Johnstown 3-0 to remain only one point behind the league leaders.

Dean Hughes, Jack Abrahams and skipper Anthony Mee scored to keep the Alex in the hunt.

HAWARDEN RANGERS maintained their title hopes with a 2-1 victory over Brickfield Rangers, Charlie McDade scoring twice for Hawarden.

PENYFFORDD meanwhile suffered a 2-0 loss against Gresford Athletic.

SALTNEY TOWN demolished HAWKESBURY 12-0 in Division One.

With the title race possibly heading for a goal difference decider, Town were keen to take any uncertainty away from their promotion bid.

Jake Gibbons grabbed seven goals in the game for Town, while Liam Ashbrook and Andy Johnson (4) were all on target for this great result.

Borras Park Albion overcame CASTELL ALUN COLTS 4-2.

Dave Bullough and Alan Roberts’ goals were not enough to give Colts anything from the game.

Argoed United revived their promotion hopes after coming from a goal down to beat Mold Juniors 2-1.

Duane Forth gave Mold the lead but they could not hold on in the face of a late onslaught from Argoed.
