Football: Holywell Town still in control of their title ambitions

THE Division One title race will go down to the wire as Holywell Town keep rolling on.

With three games to go the Wellmen lead the league by two points after an important win over potential banana skin Gwalchmai.

The mid table side were dispatched thanks to a brace from Wayne Edwards.

The fate of the title remains in their hands, as although Holyhead Hotspur have a game in hand over the Wellmen, the top two sides also have to play each other in a game which will likely decisde the title race.

In Division Two, Connah’s Quay Town’s game against Blaenau Ffestiniog was postponed as the Quay were unable to raise a team.

Bottom club Halkyn United did play however, as they entertained Gaerwen.

Tom Matthews gave the hosts the lead just after the half-hour mark but Ralph Machube levelled for the visitors with 25 minutes remaining. Halkyn, who will definitely finish bottom, were not to be denied however and grabbed a winner with eight minutes left on the clock, Danny Baker firing home in the 82nd minute to give them a 2-1 victory.
