AN EMPHATIC comeback from Holywell Town ensured they claimed victory over Pwllheli in Division One of the Welsh Alliance.
It finished 5-1 to the Wellmen but at half time they trailed 1-0 thanks to a goal from Adam Hall and it could have been 2-0 but for a disallowed effort.
After the break the Wellmen switched on and Steve Thomas scored the equaliser with barely a minute on the clock.
His shot initially came back off the crossbar but he reacted quickly to head the rebound over the keeper to level the scores.
That sparked a rally by the home side as Paul Williams played in Tony Roebuck to give the Wellmen the lead and Tom Carney, who was causing the defence problems running with the ball, crossed the ball into the danger area and watched it nestle in the back of the net to make it 3-1.
Pwllheli looked shell shocked and when they did break clear on 68 minutes, Terry Ogilvy’s shot sailed over the bar.
Ian Griffiths then spotted the keeper off his line and chipped him from outside the box to give Town a 4-1 lead and guarantee all three points.
There was still time for Thomas to add his second goal to the tally on 80 minutes as he was put through by Graeme Williams and walked the ball round the keeper.
And Thomas almost grabbed his hat trick but again his final shot cannoned of the bar.
