SECOND-placed Mold Alex came back from two goals down to beat Llangollen Town 3-2 in a thriller at Alyn Park in the Welsh National League Premier Division.
Alex had a fifth minute chance to take the lead from a penalty, but Adam Renshaw slipped at the vital moment and the kick was missed.
Llangollen, seeking revenge for a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of the Alex in September, took a 23rd minute lead when Andy Lovett’s effort from wide out found the top corner of the net.
Early in the second period the visitors doubled their advantage when a superb cross to the back post was headed in by Kevin Roberts.
By the hour mark, however, battling Alex were on level terms thanks to two fine finishes from Damien Ketley.
A couple of great stops from Elliott Power denied Llangollen a third, then 12 minutes from time Renshaw made up for his earlier miss when he showed real determination to set himself up to fire in Mold’s winner.
Coedpoeth United pipped Penyffordd 5-4, Corwen edged a 1-0 decision over Rhos Aelwyd and Overton v Hawarden Rangers finished 1-1.
In Division One Acrefair Youth defeated Castell AC 6-5 and New Brighton scored a 6-0 victory over Lex XI.
Argoed United v FC Nomads of Connah’s Quay and Mold Juniors v Glyn Ceiriog were both postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
