Ice hockey: Flintshire Raptors show no mercy in double-header

FLINTSHIREŠ Raptors under 10s had a busy weekend playing back to back games.

At home on Saturday the young ice hockey stars had a tough game but proved their worth with a 13-3 win against Whitley Bay Mischiefs.

The goals came from James Shaw, who scored eight, Kieran Clarkson (2), Michael Speare (2) and Louis Morgan.

The Spirit of the Game award went to Liam Canty.

Sunday saw the Raptors travel to face Blackburn Junior Hawks.

Bubbling with confidence, the Raptors steamrollered their hosts, comfortably winning 17-0 win against the Hawks.

Raptors’ goals came courtesy of James Shaw, who bettered his incredible haul against Whitley Bay by scoring 10, Kieran Clarkson (3), Louis Morgan, Thomas Byrne, Liam Canty and Michael Speare.

The Spirit of the Game Award went to hat-trick scorer Kieran Clarkson.

The Raptors will next be in action on Saturday, November 13 when Sutton Ashfield visit the Deeside Ice Rink (4.15pm).

That game will be immediately followed by a match featuring the Flintshire Flyers U12s.

Coaches on the night will also be happy to talk to anyone who wants to take up ice hockey as a sport and join one of the youth teams in training to prepare to take to the ice themselves this season.
