Clwyd Junior League – U12s & U13s Divisions Saturday round-up
FLINT-BAGILLT Juniors sealed their passage into the second round of the Under 12s Division Challenge Cup in thrilling fashion on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Penyffordd Pumas 3-2.
Goalscoring centre-back Niall Roberts and star boy Josh Robertson (2) were the home side’s heroes after Ben Halsall and David Stewart put the Pumas in front.
Shotton Steel needed extra time to win 3-2 at courageous Ewloe Harriers who, despite Aaron Jeffrey and Sam Leonard strikes, were edged out by Danny Edwards and Ryan Pearce (2).
Early league leaders Mostyn Dragons went down 2-1 to Hawarden Rangers, who won it through Rhys Roberts and Jamie Oldfield.
Jon Edmonds netted for the hosts.
Mynydd Isa Youth are also through after Conall Mullen (2), James Lewis and Duane Davis fired them to a 4-1 home victory over Buckley Town Juniors, whose consolation came courtesy of Dan Tanton.
Mold Juniors join Isa in the second round after shading a 14-goal thriller at home to Phoenix 9-5, with hat-trick hero Matthew Sharp, Shane Wellings (2), Jack Griffiths, Brandon Jones, Kieran van der Kooij and Daniel Lee on target for Mold, the on-fire Alex Jones – with his second four-goal haul in as many games – and Charles Warrington for the visitors.
Connah’s Quay Tigers were 9-1 winners at Holywell Town Juniors in the morning’s sole league encounter.
Coby Cooper and Henry Badhams bagged trebles, Harry Massey a double and Chris Halliwell a single for the Tigers, with Kevin Ogden responding for Holywell.
Penyffordd Panthers, thanks to hitmen Dominic Delduca (3), Harry McQuail (3), Aled Smith (2) and Ryan Griffiths, won 9-3 in the week at home to Ewloe, who replied through Sam Leonard, George Latham and Jonathon Gorman.
Flint-Bagillt Juniors got their Under 13s Division up and running on Saturday with a 4-2 win at Buckley Town Colts.
Aaron Williams, James Williamson (2) and Peter Owen shared the strikes for Flint, with Luke Wallace and Ben Waterhouse taking Buckley close.
Buckley Town Vipers cemented top spot with a 10-0 whitewash at Aston Park Rangers, given to them by hat-trick aces Jared Jones and Andrew Wynne plus Sam Woodward, Joel Williams, Connor Littler and James Birkett.
Hawarden Rangers made it three triumphs on the trot with a 3-0 home victory over Mostyn Dragons provided by Alex Peters, Liam Walker and Dan Jones.
Penyffordd, through Lee Emberton, Daniel Lee, Owain Rowlands (2), Ben Russell (2) and an own goal, also maintained their 100% winning start with a 7-1 home success over Mynydd Isa Youth, who reduced the deficit through Alex Jackson.
