Badminton: Connah’s Quay A continue Flintshire Junior League title charge

CONNAH’S Quay A continued their charge towards the Flintshire Junior League title with two more victories in Division A.

The pacesetters beat Deeside A and Mold A 4-2 at Flint Pavilion. Deeside A, whose top player was away on international duty, were relegated to Division Two, which was won by Flint A on a countback from Buckley A.

Mold B hung on to their place in the second tier by the narrowest of margins as Connah’s Quay B dropped down a division.

Castell Alun B topped Division Three even though they did not win as many matches as their clubmates Castell Alun A. Buckley B were demoted.

Division Four proved to be ultra competitive with Connah’s Quay C taking top spot by a point from Llanferres A, whose clubmates Llanferres B just edged out Mold D in the race for survival.

Division Five went the way of Flint B, but clubmates Flint C ran them close. Buckley C fell into Division Six, which Prestatyn B ran away with.

With grant aid from the Flintshire Sports Council, the North East Wales Regional Badminton Association is putting on coaching courses for youngsters in June, July and August. If you are between the ages of eight and 10 and would be interested in attending, contact Mike Coppack on 01352 752 767.
