SHOTTON Steel made it a perfect 18 wins from 18 games in the Swalec league Division Three North with a final-day 46-18 triumph at Holyhead.
They now head to Benllech for the North Wales Intermediate Cup semi final (Saturday, 2.30pm) after finishing their league campaign.
Shotton ran in eight tries at second bottom Holyhead with Adam Lynskey and Darren Leach bagging a brace. Other scores came from Nicky Wood, skipper Mark Higgins, Steve Ellson and Dicky Grace.
The wind made conditions for kicking tough with fly half Ellson making three from eight conversions.
Higgins said: “It wasn’t a vintage performance by any means but to run in eight tries is not too bad.
“We are hugely proud of our record, this season has seen us really kick on a level and it is nice for all the hard work everyone has put in to be rewarded.”
Steel have already beaten their semi final opponents twice this season, 55-0 on the road and 26-3 win at Rowley's Drive in February.
“Benllech are a very different proposition now,” said Higgins.
“They have improved a great deal and it was only a late try that secured us the bonus point in the game at home.
The winners play Machynlleth in the final.
FLINT finished their Swalec League Division Three North campaign with a 37-8 defeat at Welshpool.
