Tennis: Brother and sister Matthew and Laura Sharp star at North Wales Championships

SMASH hits Matthew and Laura Sharp are basking in the glory of their superb successes at the North Wales County Closed Championships.

The siblings, who are from Mold, were in sensational form at the big event.

Matthew, 15, won the under 16 and U18s boys titles for the second year running.

Matthew’s victory in the U18s tournament was particularly poignant as the coveted winners shield was presented to him by the parents of Alistair Wright, a talented and respected Wales international who tragically died of leukaemia at the age of 18 in 2010.

Matthew’s younger sister Laura, 10, made it a Sharp family double by claiming the U10s girls singles crown.

Laura attends Ysgol Bryn Coch while big brother Matthew attends the Alun School.

Both train at Mold Lawn Tennis Club and the Wrexham Tennis Academy and were thrilled by their victories.

The Mold club celebrated seven wins at the North Wales County Closed Championships, a fantastic achievement which rounded off their memorable 50th anniversary year.
