HAZEL O’Connor’s marks the release of her new album, I Give You My Sunshine, with a tour that comes to Telford’s Warehouse in Chester on October 17.
She is accompanied by virtuoso saxophonist Clare Hirst (The Belle Stars, Communards, David Bowie) on sax and vocals and Sarah Fisher (Eurythmics, Sax in the City) on keyboards and vocals.
This powerful blend of voices and musicianship lends a classy touch to Hazel’s vibrant performance.
There are also two songs from the Nina Simone songbook, Feeling Good and Do What You Gotta Do.
Hazel, Clare and Sarah have already completed a series of sell-out debut shows in France and the UK and the trio will be firing on all cylinders when they take to the road this October and November.
Hazel recently recorded for a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Old Grey Whistle Test, which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 on October 26.
Hazel is no stranger to the live scene ever since striding into the spotlight with the cult movie Breaking Glass in 1980.
From her early tours in the 1980s to her critically acclaimed partnership with harpist Cormac De Barra; her autobiographical theatre shows Beyond Breaking Glass and the Breaking Glass Live tour, she has been continually performing and writing the world over.
