New Chester online discount deals firm SkillsDeals has local focus

A NEW online business is aiming to deliver discount deals on local skilled tradesmen and firms to Chester residents.

Skillsdeals has launched its website and aims to offer a more local focus than other existing online money-off firms, with an emphasis on picking reputable companies to showcase deals for.

The website sends emails to customers twice a week with the latest deals it has arranged with traders, such as plumbers and builders, and businesses including salons and sports specialists.

Office manager Richard Woolley said the firm had an advantage in this as all the staff in the Godstall Lane-based firm were from Chester.

He said: “We have an online skill directory and are a local company looking to support local businesses and take on local staff.

“Our managing director lives in Chester and we all live around the city. We are not flooding the directory with every company in Chester as we want to make sure we do not do a deal for some cowboy builders who would not do the job they advertise.

“We only go with the quality and established businesses in Chester and the surrounding areas.

“The plan is to grow and become a national company and have a base in London, including every town in the UK. We want to cover places such as Mold, Ellesmere Port and Whitchurch – this week, for example, we have a boiler engineer in Mold who is offering a service for £29.

“The idea is to have a variety of items on the site, offers from sport to weddings – we are looking at offering a half-price wedding in the future – and deals with kids in mind too.”
