GCSE results: St David’s High School, Saltney

STAFF and students at St David’s High School in Saltney are celebrating record breaking examination results this year.

At GCSE, 75% of students achieved the Welsh Level 2 threshold of five GCSEpasses at grades A* – C and 64% achieved A*– C grades in all three core subjects (English, Mathematics and Science).

Headteacher Tony Davidson said: “For the fifth consecutive year, we have beaten our previous best at GCSE and exceeded the challenging targets agreed with the local authority. These results really are excellent and I am delighted.

“Students of all abilities have approached their GCSE examinations with considerable energy and determination, and teaching staff have provided excellent support and guidance. The results achieved reflect the hard work and dedication which we have seen over the past five years.

“I congratulate everyone concerned and I am pleased that so many year 11 students will be joining our sixth form.”

Outstanding performers this year included: Sam Carr (four A*s, four As and one B), Keziah McKenna (three A*s, five As, two Bs), Emily Russell (three A*s, grades, six As and one B), Conal Bembridge Sayers (two A*s, four As and three Bs), Rachel Lalek (two A*s, seven As and one B), Amy Reid (two A*s, five As, and three Bs), Emily Scott two A*s, six As and one B), Amy Chambers (four As and six Bs), Tom Edwards (six As and four Bs), Tom Keogh- five As and five Bs).
