A CHARITABLE mum and daughter successfully stepped up their fundraising bid in aid of Help for Heroes.
Liz Watts, 70, and her daughter Kirsty Ramsay, 40, completed a 10k run in Glasgow to raise more than £650 for the good cause.
Liz, who lives near New Brighton with her husband Malcolm, and Kirsty, of Glasgow, were inspired to take part in the charity run after watching a TV documentary about the British troops injured while fighting in Afghanistan.
Liz, accompanied by Kirsty throughout the distance, said: “It was a big challenge, but great to take part in, a real experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
“We were very pleased with the amount raised as it’s all for a good cause.”
Liz completed the distance in 1h42m5s to come 217 out of 310 in the over- 60s group and 10,011th out of 10,926 for the whole race.
She added: “I was initially disappointed when my daughter checked the results to say I had come 10,011th, but then she said that still meant I had beaten more than 900 others!”
