Criticism of civic guests’ 450-metre bus trip from Deeside Enterprise Centre to Shotton Station

A SHOTTON councillor has criticised a bus service laid on to transport civic guests from Deeside Enterprise Centre to Shotton Station for the unveiling of the £1m revamp – a 450-metre trip.

Cllr David Evans said: “With the traffic there is around, you can actually walk there and be halfway back again before the coach would arrive there.

“It’s only about a 400-metre journey, about a five-minute walk.

“In these times of economic hardship, I thought ‘what a ridiculous waste of money it is’.

“Somebody’s got money to burn.”

But a Flintshire County Council spokesman said: “A courtesy bus was provided free of charge to the guests at no cost to the scheme or Flintshire County Council.”
