Two arrested after crash drama in Buckley

TWO people have been arrested after a man was hit by a car in Buckley.

The male, in his 40s, was taken to the Wrexham Maelor hospital with serious head and chest injuries after he was hit by a car on Jubilee Road at about 10am on Wednesday (Macrh 16).

Speaking at the scene, detective inspector Alun Oldfield said: "Just after 10am in Jubilee Road, Buckley, an incident occured which involved a male and a green coloured Ford Mondeo estate.

"As a result of the incident the male is now in hospital with serious head injuries. The Mondeo estate has been located outside of Buckley and two people have been arrested.

"A joint investigation will be carried out with North Wales Police traffic department and CID.

"We're in the process of taking statements. From what I gather his injuries aren't life threatening."

An onlooker said she saw a police helicopter and dozens of police officers at the scene.

She added: “It’s utter chaos here. We don’t know exactly what’s going on but there are lots of rumours circling the town.

“I was just going about my shopping and heard police sirens so I knew something bad had happened.

“It’s so shocking that something like this can happen in a small town like this.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 101.
