WORKERS who had planned to down tools over pay at Ifor Williams Trailers in Deeside have accepted an improved offer from the company.
About 40 production employees – members of trade union Unite – were due to strike at the Deeside Industrial Park site today and tomorrow (Thursday and Friday), with another two-day walk-out scheduled for next Thursday and Friday.
But late yesterday (Wednesday) the industrial action was called off as Unite members voted on whether to accept a deal.
And today a spokesman for Ifor Williams said: “We are naturally pleased that the pay offer has been accepted, particularly at a time, when uncertain market conditions continue to impact our manufacturing production at Deeside.”
Employees had previously held four one-day strikes in recent weeks after rejecting an initial 1.5% pay rise offer from the company.
