Deeside crews called to quarry fire

LOGGERHEADS Country Park is hosting a ‘Learn about our woodland wildlife’ event with games and activities.

It takes place on October 27, from 2-4pm. Come dressed for all weathers.

Blaze at quarry

FIREFIGHTERS from Deeside were called out to tackle a fire at a quarry.

Crews were called to Gresford Quarry just before 7pm on Monday and used four water extinguishers and four beaters to put out the 40 square metres of undergrowth and tree stumps which was alight.

The fire, which was put out by 8.15pm, was thought to have been started by discarded smoking materials.

Autumn park tour

JOIN the countryside rangers for an autumnal tour around Wepre Park.

The tour, called Beneath the Changing Leaf will take place on Sunday from 1-3pm.

The free event will see the ranger discussing with visitors the park’s history, geology, plants and animals. Booking is essential.

The meeting point is Wepre Park Visitor Centre, Connah’s Quay.

Hallowe’en event

A HALLOWE’EN Horror Beneath the Trees event is taking place on October 29 in Pen y Maes Woods, Holywell.

Join the Friends of Pen y Maes from 6-9pm for ghoulish fun.

Carve your own pumpkin, eat entrails and enjoy a ghostly walk in the woods. Booking is essential and costs £2 per person.
