Flintshire mum says networking website has given baby gift business a boost

A FLINTSHIRE mum says a social networking website has given her online business a boost.

Jane Renshaw, 41, of Ewloe, has now launched The Baby Pantry which specialises in unique gifts for new babies.

The mum-of-two offers a range of nappy cakes containing top quality baby essentials that new mums will welcome on her website. And she says that social networking site Twitter can make a big difference to businesses.

She told the Chronicle that The Baby Pantry was picked as business of the day by Purple Dog Network (@Purpledognet) who say their aim is “to sniff out and promote UK companies who are looking to build their business online”.

Jane said: “I really noticed the difference in traffic to the website after @Purpledognet chose us. Hopefully people will remember us and come back and buy when they need gifts.”

Jane said that since the website went live three weeks ago she has received a steady stream of orders – including one from a shop in London which wants to stock her products.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” said Jane. “A company in London has asked for eight cakes and hopefully I might get more orders if they are popular. Orders through the website have been steady so I’m really pleased.”

The tiered creations – designed to look like cakes – are made from disposable nappies, fleece blankets, socks, clothing, stuffed toys and other items newborns need.

“They make fantastic gifts and are a little bit different. I’m so pleased that I’ve had a lot of interest.”

Jane is now busy making a range of Christmas themed nappy cakes which she will preview during a Christmas Extravaganza Evening at Daleside Garden Centre in Hawarden on Thursday, October 1, from 6-9pm. Admission is free.

“The special Christmas cakes will feature snowmen and women, festive ribbon and I’ll even be making some to celebrate baby’s first Christmas. I’ve got a busy few months ahead!”
