Afonwen Craft Centre, Flintshire starts new blog

A FLINTSHIRE craft and antique centre is reaching out to the online community with a new blog.

Afonwen Craft Centre, which sells antiques, hand made crafts, art and jewellery and hosts regular craft demonstrations, has joined the 21st century with a vengeance this month as staff embrace social networking.

The centre, which also has an onsite restaurant selling homemade meals and cakes, is run by husband and wife team Janet and Adrian Dallolio.

“We’ve got so much going on here,” said Janet.

“There’s so much that I want to get out there and let people know about. I especially want to reach out to people in their 20s and 30s, and social media and the internet is a perfect way to do that.

A few months ago we joined Twitter and Facebook, which have been really successful moves, and the next step was to start a blog.”

The blog will be updated at least once a week by Janet, who will chat about the latest artists and craftspeople demonstrating, the latest food and recipes being made in the restaurant and pictures and descriptions of new antiques acquired by the centre.

“We want to get across some of the personality of the centre and its team, so people can get to know us,” added Janet.
