MOURNERS have been left distressed and angry after waste was dumped at a village cemetery.
Councillor Mike Reece says those responsible for the rubbish at Bagillt cemetery should consider the implications of their actions.
He said: “I was alerted that someone had dumped waste in the car park of the cemetery by the man who opens the gates to the site. He rang me on Saturday afternoon to tell me what had happened.
“The items that have been dumped are building materials such as insulation, water pipes and paving flags.
“People visiting the graves of loved ones have been distressed and angered that anyone could have been so insensitive. It is totally disrespectful for anyone to do such a thing.”
Cllr Reece said he was disappointed this had happened as there are recycling facilities less than a mile away.
He added: “Fly-tipping anywhere is terrible but to do it at a cemetery is awful behaviour. Especially as the Greenfield depot is about three quarters of a mile away.
“It is a complete eyesore. People visiting the graves of their loved ones don’t want to be faced with this mess when they arrive.
“I urge whoever was responsible to carefully consider their actions as it’s such an anti-social thing to do.”
Cllr Reece reported the problem to Flintshire County Council and is asking anyone with information to contact him.
Steve Jones, head of Streetscene at Flintshire County Council, said: “The fly-tipping was cleared on Monday afternoon.”
