Students at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd, Flint, scoop enterprise awards

THERE were smiles all round when enterprising pupils at a Flint school scooped awards for their business skills.

Sixth form students at Ysgol Maes Hyfryd set up a cafe which they open once a week to sell sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes to hungry staff.

They won awards for best presentation, best company report and best overall team at the North East Wales Enterprise Awards which were held in Wrexham.

The students will now go on to the national final which will be held in Cardiff in June.

Teacher Matthew Wynne said: “Running the cafe gives the students a confidence boost and develops their business skills. They have learnt about customer service, food hygiene, money handling and team work.

“We are very proud of them all and are looking forward to the final.”
