Flint mental health campaigner appears in TV documentary

A CAMPAIGNER fighting to improve mental health services has appeared in a BBC documentary.

Kelly Boylin, of Flint, vowed to fight for change after her sister took her own life. She claims the mental health system in the UK failed her elder sister Kim who died in May 2009, aged 20 – after spending two years on a waiting list to see a psychiatrist.

Kelly, 21, who also has mental health problems, has been in meetings with Children’s Commissioner for Wales Keith Towler, MP David Hanson and mental health experts to see how her campaign Kim’s Voice can progress.

She was due to appear in the first episode of Peace of Mind which was due to be broadcast on BBC One Wales last night (Wednesday).

In the new series, the cameras follow Kelly as she rebuilds her life after the shattering news of her sister’s suicide.
