Home-Start Flintshire seeks volunteers to support struggling families

A CHARITY is seeking help from Flintshire parents to help families who are experiencing stress.

Volunteers are asked to give about three hours a week to provide a listening ear and an extra pair of hands to help young families who are finding it difficult to cope.

Home-Start Flintshire has been running since 1995 and is one of more than 300 Home-Starts spread right across the UK.

The charity recruits and trains parent volunteers to offer emotional and practical support to families in their own homes. Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood and that parents play a key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential.

Scheme organiser Hazel Meadows said: “We have a short induction course beginning on January 21 at our offices in Corlan and welcome anyone with parenting or caring experience to get in touch if they feel they have the skills and some time to help a struggling family.”
