Chester FC: Neil Young on verge of signing new contract

CHESTER FC manager Neil Young is on the verge of signing a new contract.

The title-winning boss and his assistant Gary Jones are today expected to put pen to paper on initial one-year deals.

The contracts will be automatically extended by a further 12 months if Chester win promotion to the Blue Square North this season or next.

Talks between Young and the Blues board have been ongoing since October.

The 37-year-old, whose present deal runs out in May, had asked for a straight two-year deal.

But the board favour the option of an incentive-based contract.

Young, who led the reborn club to championship glory in its first season, is on target to achieve three consecutive Evo-Stik Northern Premier League promotions.

In the last two seasons he has taken Colwyn Bay and then Chester out of the First Division North.

His Blues side currently sit top of the Premier Division and can move six points clear of Hednesford Town with victory in Saturday’s Exacta Stadium clash between the title rivals (3pm).
