Airbus UK Broughton: Wingmen need to find their finishing touch after opening defeat

Airbus UK Broughton 1 Llanelli 2

AS hotshot Jake Cassidy was thrashing out a deal to move to the English Premier League with Wolves, the Wingmakers were in need of his finishing powers in the Welsh Premier as they suffered an opening-day defeat.

Craig Harrison’s side had the possession and the opportunities to win the game but that all important final touch was missing at the crucial time.

By contrast, Llanelli were fortunate to take the lead on 16 minutes.

Airbus cleared a corner off the line but the ball was returned and Rhys Griffiths hurled himself at it, getting enough on the ball to send it over the line.

The goal stunned the Wingmakers and a long delay to treat a head injury suffered by Matty Woodward did little to help them settle.

The away side began to take control but Carl Owen was unfortunate to see a snap-shot drift wide.

After the break Airbus had a penalty after Moran was bundled over by Llanelli keeper Craig Richards.

The stopper saw yellow but was able to make amends for his challenge as he saved Moran’s effort.

Airbus fell further behind on 58 minutes when another cross was headed home by Griffiths after he found himself in plenty of space.

On 76 minutes the Wingmakers deservedly pulled a goal back when Owen lofted the ball towards the far post and Danny Desormeaux powered it home.

But despite some late chances it wasn’t to be for Airbus as they finished point-less.
