Airbus UK Broughton: Super six signed up as squad takes shape

CRAIG Harrison and Gareth Owen’s squad for the forthcoming Welsh Premier campaign is taking shape as three more players have signed this week and another three have renewed their deals at the Airfield.

Mark Cadwallader will follow Owen back to Broughton having spent last season with him at Rhyl. Since leaving Airbus, Cadwallader has also had a spell at Northwich Victoria.

Josh Griffiths has been coaxed away from Cefn Druids and the Wingmakers have also extended an opportunity to former Tranmere Rovers player Ross Rule, younger brother of another Airbus signing Glenn Rule.

Meanwhile defenders Ryan Edwards and Matty Woodward have signed deals to keep them at the Airfield for another season.

Edwards had been the focus of some attention from a number of clubs and Woodward was a firm target for a rival Welsh Premier club but both have pledged their immediate future to the Flintshire outfit.

And in a big boost for the club, influential midfielder Danny Desormeaux has signed a two-year deal.

It all means that the 2011/12 Airbus squad currently looks like this: Niki Lee Bulmer, Ryan Edwards, Glenn Rule, Rees Darlington, James Davies, Gavin Cadwallader, Matty Woodward, Mark Allen, Danny Desormeaux, John Leah, Eddie Hope, Josh Griffiths, Ross Rule, Rhys Nash, Paul McManus, Ian Sheridan, Mike Hayes, Craig Whitfield.

Harrison and Owen are unlikely to add many more new names to their squad before the season gets under way as they allow their side to get used to one another through pre-season.

Ruthin Town fell to a 7-0 defeat at the Airfield on Tuesday night in Airbus’ first senior game of the summer.

The pre-season programme continues on Saturday when FC United of Manchester visit the Airfield (3pm).
