Cricket: Buckley add four new faces on eve of North Wales League campaign

BUCKLEY are aiming to build on their mid-table finish in North Wales League Division Two and have brought on a quartet of new faces to strengthen their squad.

In come Jason Lloyd from Castell Alun, Joel Sampson, a top young talent from Northop Hall and recent arrivals to the area James Blackwell and Aswin Karthikeyan.

The club, captained by Phil Bradfield, has secured sponsorship from Thorncliffe Building Supplies to help fuel their ambitions and are keen to attract new players and supporters to get involved this season.

Their first game is at home to Abergele.

CARMEL AND DISTRICT have appointed Gwion Dafydd as their skipper for 2012 after Danny Owens stood down citing ‘personal reasons’.

Wicketkeeper Owens is still available for selection however as Carmel entertain Rhewl on Saturday.

They will be attempting to win promotion having missed out by a single point last season.

NORTHOP 2nds finished right in the middle of the table last season and captain Dale Harley will be keen to improve on that as they kick-off at home to Brymbo.

Gavin Parry’s newly-promoted CONNAH’S QUAY 2nds will want to uphold the reputation of their league champion first team as they travel to Bodedern.
