Clwyd League: Flint Town United keep up chase in Reserves Premier League

FLINT Town United kept the pressure on Clwyd League Reserves Premier League pacesetters Prestatyn Town on Friday night with a 7-1 demolition of Llandyrnog United.

Lee Acott (3) did most of the damage for the hosts while Steve Alcock, Richard Hughes, Jordan Evans and Liam Ashbrook also got in on the act.

The following afternoon basement boys Halkyn United went down 6-0 at home to Glan Conwy.

Shotton Steel cruised into the third round of the President’s Cup with a 5-2 win at Bro Cernyw given to them by Shaun Hughes, David Bibby, Marc Edwards, Owen Pierce and Tom Stacey

Sychdyn lost 3-1 at Llansannan to remain bottom of the Premier Division with Mark Weir’s equaliser proving to be nothing more than a consolation.

Aston Park Rangers’ Premier Cup adventure ended at the second-round stage as they fell 3-0 home to Rhuddlan Town.

Wepre Rangers, meanwhile, were knocked out of the NWCFA Junior Cup after losing a thrilling tie at Rhyl Athletic 6-5 on penalties. The third-round clash had finished 5-5 after extra-time with John Campbell firing a 21-minute hat-trick and Dave Hines and Scott Greenhalgh also on target for Wepre.
