Football: Eagles land a convincing success

FLINT & Bagillt Eagles had a magnificent seven in the Under 16s division against struggling Holywell Town Juniors.

Ryan Thomas (2), James Stead (2), Tom Roberts, Rhys Lewis and Chad Marsden did the damage for mid-table Eagles in a comfortable 7-0 success.

In a thrilling battle between Cymru Hotspurs and visiting Prestatyn Athletic, the hosts went in at the break 4-2 in front, with Jordan Taylor netting all four for Hotspurs. But doubles from Ben Cawley and James Stead and singles from Tom Roberts, Rhys Lewis and Chad Marsden saw Prestatyn fight back for a magnificent 7-5 success.

Shotton’s Jamie Wynne was on target but his goal proved in vain as Llandyrnog ran out 3-1 winners.

Hawarden Rangers cruised into the third round of the North East Wales FA Cup with a convincing 9-0 win at Acrefair Youth.

Rangers were 5-0 up at the break and goals from Michael Roscoe, Olly Sanders, Ryan Cunliffe, Scott Chatterton, Ben Evans, Thomas Bonney (2) and James Breen (2) put them on cloud nine.

Owen Lewis, Tom Hainsworth, Aron Taylor and Josh Jones helped Ewloe Harriers to second-round success in a 4-1 win at home to Rhosddu United; Buckley Town Juniors hit double figures to march through at the expense of Marchwiel Youth.

Aled Reece, Shaun Tinsley, Ben Williams and Tom Dodd shared the goals in a 10-0 triumph, and Penyffordd (Phil Evans) went down 4-1 to Brickfield Rangers.

Shotton Steel competed in the North Wales Coast FA Cup and despite being level 2-2 at the break, goals from Owen Smith (2) and Arthur Doo were cancelled out as the Steelmen crashed 6-3.
