Football: Holywell crushed but Connah’s Quay Town bounce back for victory

HOLYWELL Town suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat at promotion-chasing Conwy United in Division One of the Welsh Alliance.

In Division Two, CONNAH’S QUAY TOWN came back twice to beat Llandyrnog United 4-3.

Town were 2-0 down inside seven minutes but two goals in two minutes from James Gambino levelled the scores.

Five minutes into the second half United got their noses in front but before the hour mark Town once more drew level thanks to a Lee Reynolds strike.

Both sides seemed to be heading for a point each when in the dying seconds a penalty was awarded against the visitors which Craig Gallagher put away to steal the three points.

GREENFIELD leapfrogged HALKYN UNITED with a 4-1 victory that lifted the north-western Flintshire side into the top half of the table.

United took the lead after a quarter of an hour through Andy Howells and that was how it remained until 11 minutes from time when Greenfield jumped into gear and ripped the points from the visitors’ grasp.

Keith Ainsworth sparked the avalanche with the first of his two goals and Sean Pritchard and Craig Gallacher completed a remarkable result.
